WORLD PHARMACISTS DAY 2018 - MYTOWN SHOPPING CENTRE, KUALA LUMPUR
The National WPD celebration was held smoothly but energetically from 20-21 October at MyTOWN Shopping Centre.
Setting up of the booths started already in the late evening of 19th Oct and went on overnight to be ready by morning of 20th for exhibitors to bring in their exhibits.
The opening ceremony was officiated by the Honorable Minister of Health. YB gave an encouraging speech and the key points are:
- the Pharmacist profession had gone through a big evolution and transformation.
- The Pharmacist is a critical player and component in healthcare delivery
- The understanding is clear - Doctors are trained to diagnose and treat and pharmacists are trained to dispense.
- Pharmacist is the most trained to dispense medications and in terms of drug understanding, efficacy and toxicity

At the WPD there were pharmacists giving talks to the public on health issues at the 11 Meet Your Pharmacists sessions and other individual talks, including 2 forum. There were also pharmacists conducting health screening. In addition to these expertise, they show that they can give entertaining performances (live band, sketsa, gamelan, dikir, magic show) with groups from universities and MyPSA. There was a special Pharmacy Talent Show on Saturday evening with solo, duet, groups singing and dancing, including at artistic show on football juggling.

FAPA CONGRESS 2018 - MANILA: MALAYSIANS ELECTED INTO FAPA COUNCIL
It is a pleasure to announce that at the 27th FAPA Congress that is ongoing now in Manila two Malaysians had been successfully elected into the 15th FAPA Council during the election that took place on 23rd October. Both carries a 4-year term:
- Mr Jack Shen Lim (current MPS Honorary Treasurer) -
Vice President, FAPA Bureau
- Assoc. Prof Dr Mohaad Haniki Nik Mohamed - (current Principal of Malaysian Academy of Pharmacy) -
Section Chair for Pharmaceutical Education
They join En Amrahi Buang, MPS President, who has been appointed into the Council. The Council consist of Bureau, Presidents from Pharmacy associations from various countries and Section Chairs.
FAPA CONGRESS 2018 - MANILA: LECTURES
The 27th Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Associations Congress is now taking place in Manila ( from 23 - 27th Oct 2018) at the Philippines International Convention Centre, Manila
The theme is ?Pharmacists for the Global Goals: Creating Value Beyond Health?
Their program consists of keynote address, plenary lectures, and parallel sessions on various pharmacy disciplines.

HOSPITAL CHAPTER GATHERING HAPPENING ON THE 27TH OCTOBER 2018 @ SUNWAY MEDICAL CENTRE

A notice has been issued stating that the nomination period for the MPS-Kedah-Perlis Area Committee and Young Pharmacist Chapter Kedah Perlis Area Steering Committee is extended till 31st October 2018 (Wednesday)
