The target audience for this event consists of youths and professionals from various disciplines including healthcare, science, engineering and IT. We are expecting an attendance of 300 participants in this event. 'Innovation' is a word that often regarded as uniformly positive that connotes different meanings to different people - advance in technology, novel thinking, discovery, or just improving upon the status quo. But no matter how it's defined, innovation has been playing a core role in healthcare at a radical scale, improving patient experience whilst making our healthcare service offerings more predictable and manageable. Various new technologies, such as big data and artificial intelligence, are slowly transforming the healthcare industry and healthcare management. However, even if the outcome is widely perceived to be beneficial, adoption of these technologies remains poor. Amongst others, the lack of clear awareness and understanding of the benefits, risks and use cases of these tools in healthcare has been the chief reason why scepticism remains. In view of this, MPS-YPC initiated the Malaysian Innovative Healthcare Symposium (MIHS) series with the aim of promoting and cultivating a culture of innovation in the local healthcare industry. Since its inception in 2016, MIHS has achieved astounding success in convening hundreds of professionals, entrepreneurs and students alike to deepen their understanding on health innovation. Heading into its third instalment, MIHS is firmly amongst the key initiatives supporting the Ministry of Health Telemedicine Development Group’s push for stronger nationwide adoption of telemedicine.
In recent years, increased health awareness amongst the populace has brought about massive changes in the healthcare sector. As patients assume greater responsibility of their health, the focus of care is starting to shift from managing illness to improving health. That, along with their increased participation in medical decision making, is driving the implementation of a patient-centric approach in healthcare. is year, our theme of ‘Healthcare 4.0: Closing The Gap Between Patients & Technology’ underscores the criticality of cultivating consumer-centric healthcare innovation. It is an area of growing interest as bleeding edge technology becomes increasingly accessible to consumers. Featuring nationally renowned experts and thought leaders in the fields of IT and healthcare, the agenda will look at how technology can act as a catalyst for much of the sweeping changes in healthcare, with a particular emphasis of imparting the value of innovation upon patients. In addition, a live demo session will be held to demonstrate how creativity, resilience and entrepreneurship plays into the healthcare transformation equation. The proposed event will be held on 6th October 2018 (Saturday) from 8.00 AM to 4.15 PM. By targeting emerging passionate professionals from all areas of healthcare, we strongly believe that this event will serve as an ideal platform for them to be exposed to powerful ideas, perspectives, necessary to innovate healthcare
