SUBSTANCE ABUSE WITH PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION
According to the Recovery Village, an organization dedicated to helping those struggling with substance abuse into recovery, many people tend to associate drug abuse with illicit substances, but a recent survey showed that almost 9 million Americans regularly abuse prescription medication, including pain relievers, tranquilizers, and stimulants.
To help fight this epidemic of prescription drug abuse and addiction, they believed that providing information about these substances would help as more people learn about the risks associated with misusing prescription drugs and how to get help (US Scenario only).

NATIONAL RENAL PHARMACY SCIENTIFIC MEETING
The theme of this year's is 'Seeking New Evidence Beyond The Norm'. The burden of kidney disease is still on the rise. At present, it is estimated that between 1.8 to 3.1 million of Malaysians may have chronic kidney disease with the majority undetected in their early stages. We are in the era of abundance scientific evidence, particularly in the field of nephrology. As the root cause of the disease has become better understood, many new drugs have been developed and recommendations in the clinical practice guidelines have been revised. Research and study in the field of renal pharmacotherapy will be progressively important to improve patient care in various aspects.
The Renal Pharmacy Scientific Meeting will bring together pharmacists in clinical practice, academia, pharma-industry and all areas of expertise who share similar interest in renal pharmacotherapy. The meeting aims to provide opportunities for sharing of evidence-based renal medicine which can be taken as pearls for daily practice. The meeting also provides potential networking opportunities for collaboration in order to cultivate interest in conducting research in renal disease. Participants will come away from the scientific meeting with the knowledge they need to advance their roles in their respective fields.
We look forward to meeting you!
