MPS - NEWLY ELECTED COUNCIL MEMBERS
As the country faced its General Elections, MPS also had its fair share of election fever. For the MPS 51st AGM, the election of council members were also keenly contested.
The first stage of the MPS elections started back in February with the call for AGM and nomination for candidates for the posts. When the dateline was reached there were 26 candidates vying for the available 15 posts of council members. The postal ballot for these posts was counted at around 3pm on 28th April at Hotel Istana during AGM where over 300 members were present. From these successful council members, the second stage of election was carried out to vote in the office bearers, as below.

- To receive the minutes for the last AGM
- To receive the Council's Report
- To receive the Statement of Accounts duly audited.
- To elect 5 Council Members* ( nomination form available)
- To elect the Principal from amongst those elected to the Council
- To appoint two auditors for the year
- To discuss any other matters that is received by the Council 21 days before the AGM, namely by 25th June, 2018.
*According to the Constitution, at each Annual General Meeting, five members of the Council shall retire.

CLINICAL PHARMACY THERAPEUTIC UPDATES
To promote further development and specialisation in pharmacy, Malaysian Academy of Pharmacy will be conducting a series of Therapeutics Updates Tutorials. This tutorial is opened to all who have a special interest in pharmacotherapy. It aims to provide up-to-date knowledge in pharmacotherapy so that pharmacists in the clinical practice can acquire a strong base of knowledge and be competent healthcare professionals at their work fields.
The scope of the Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) syllabus will also be included to accommodate those practising hospital pharmacists who are interested in taking the examination for BCPS.
The invited speakers are BCPS certified or experienced pharmacists in the respective field.
Special highlight: An interrnational speaker, Assoc. Prof Surakit Nathisuwan from Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (Thailand). He is Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist since 2001. With years of expertise in clinical pharmacy, he has established cardiology pharmacy services especially anticoagulation clinic. Furthermore, he plays a key role in establishing Doctor of Pharmacy program, postdoctoral training (residency and fellowship) and advancing pharmacists competency in patient-oriented care in Thailand. Not only he will share his knowledge & experience in clinical practice but also on the journey of pharmacist specialisation in Thailand.

10th NATIONAL R&D CONFERENCE 2018
The 10th National Pharmacy Conference 2018 is an event organized by the Pharmaceutical Services Programme in collaboration with the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society. The conference takes place every two years, providing a platform for pharmacy and healthcare personnel to share research findings and expand their research networks. It is open to all pharmacists and healthcare personnel from Ministry of Health, Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Defence, pharmaceutical industries, community pharmacies, academia and other public and private agencies.
At this year's conference, the subject of value-based approaches in improving access to medicines will be explored and discussed. All researchers are welcome to submit abstracts under the following tracks: Quality Use of Medicines (including regulatory pharmacy and pharmacy enforcement), Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmacoepidemiology & Drug safety, Health / Pharmacoeconomics, Impact of Pharmacy Services to Healthcare, Health Informatics & Research Tools.

It would seem that in 2016, seventeen (17) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development officially came into force. Over the next 15 years, these new Global Goals will drive all countries to address the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. For these Global goals, Pharmacists with their unique technical expertise and skills will have the competencies to influence areas beyond health towards reducing inequities, raising basic standards of living, and fostering equitable social development.

MPS MANIFESTO FOR GE14 - VOICES OF PHARMACISTS
The message to the over 16,300 registered pharmacists from the middle of April is to spread this message to all the candidates of the Malaysian General Elections 14 that has recently been held
From the whatsapp messages coming in there is a uptake of this call with pictures of members with the election candidates.
It is part of overall strategy to bring the Voices of Pharmacists to the whole Parliamentarian so that they will take heed when the laws related to pharmacy is being put up for consideration in Parliament.

SURVEY ON COMMUNITY PHARMACISTS' PERCEPTIONS, ATTITUDES AND BARRIERS TOWARDS PHARMACIST-LED MINOR AILMENT PROGRAM IN MALAYSIA
I am currently conducting a research among community pharmacists in Malaysia.
It's a survey on 'Community pharmacists' perceptions, attitudes and barriers towards pharmacist-led minor ailment programme in Malaysia'.
Those who are working as full-time / part-time(locum) community pharmacists are welcomed to participate in this study. We need about 30 to 40 respondents from each states in Malaysia.

SURVEY ON NEEDS AMONG MOH FACILITIES PHARMACISTS FROM MPS
Thank you for agreeing to participate in a cross-sectional survey. I am a final year student of Bachelor of Pharmacy in University of Malaya. I am currently conducting a study that aim to assess the needs among Ministry of Health's facilities (MOH) pharmacists from Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society (MPS). This questionnaire will be divided into two parts: Part A will be focus in the demographic of the respondents; Part B has 3 subsections: (i) Factors affecting membership of MPS with a 5 point Likert scale. Please choose only one score of the agreement scale for each question. You are also allowed to state your response by writing them down in the spaces provided. (ii) You are able to choose (tick) more than one option of area of improvement for MPS. (iii) This section comprises of an open-ended question.
