FLOOD! TIME TO HELP THE COMMUNITY
Penang suffered an unprecedented flood situation, reported to be the worse so far. It would seem that the urban areas are most affected. Pharmacies had also been known to have flood waters into their premise with loss of goods and equipments. To help alleviate the suffering of their loss, MPS is reactivating its Disaster Relief Fund which was started 2 years ago to respond to the needs of the flood that occur mainly in the East Coast.
Do assist in whatever way, big or small. Any contributions can be bank into MPS account (bank details are in the forms)

The aid to be given to affected members will be handled by the respective Area Committee and at the moment it is the Penang Area which suffered the most. However it is also opened to all Areas. MPS had approved an allocation to the Penang Area Committee headed by Ms Gina Koay who will identified members as they deem require assistance.
Besides helping fellow pharmacists, the Penang Area pharmacists also assisted the public affected by the flood. The Head of the MPS Community Health Chapter, Ms Bharati Suresh, working with the Penang Area assisted to get some much-needed pharmaceutical supplies to the flood-affected community and are on site even at night. The Penang pharmacists from both private and public sector continue to helping whatever they can at various locations as can be seen in the night and some day photos
COMMENTS ON THE EXEMPLARY EFFORTS OF PHARMACISTS IN FLOOD RELIEF
Deeply appreciate the pictorial documentary of relief effort. WPD2017 as part of MPS 50th Anniversary, both have become important milestone in our history. The coming together of public and private pharmacists in unprecedented way have brought unity across the nation which is crucial to driving our vision for pharmacy forward. The enthusiasm and commitment have not only on professionsl issues but spilled over to serving the community and fellow pharmacists in times of need. Salute to those selfless colleagues providing physical, financial and emotional support. We hope through community spirit that we bring the profession closer to the people and be recognised as an invaluable healthcare team member and in achieving our goals.
