Kindly note that Pharmacy outlets are affected by the Personal Data Protection Act.
In the Personal Data Protection (Class of Data Users) Order 2013, Schedule (Personal Data Group) various groups that have to comply are listed for example, Telco companies, banks, insurance, tour and hospitality, transport, utilities.
Specifically for pharmacy this is under item Section 4c (Kesihatan) which states clearly “Pertubuhan perbadanan yang didaftarkan dibawah Akta Pendaftaran Ahli Farmasi 1951”
Just for information private practitioner clinics are covered under Section 4a and 4b.
To register, please download the Registration form (Form 15(1)) from the PDPA website under the Section Pendaftaran. No payment is to be made at this juncture. The documents required are the usual company registration documents. After filling you may either hand deliver or post it to them at

Upon approval of registration, you will be inform by email after which you have 21 days to pay.
Kindly note that registration also entails certain obligations to comply with on collection and usage of personal data, or patient data.
The MPS Legal Advisor suggested that all should register first with the PDPA Department. They informed that after registration, you will have access to a forum. Do participate in the forum so that you will know more about the PDPA and you may also ask questions and as to what you need to do specific to your own pharmacy.
The underlying principle for this Act is that when you collect the personal data of the patient, you are not to use it for any purpose other than for what you are collecting it for in the first place.
