The 19th FAPA Congress shall be held in Seoul from 5th - 8th October 2002.

  1. ABOUT FAPA

    Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Associations, established in 1964, is known as FAPA with office headquarters at Manila, Philippines.

    The Federation has as its objective the development of pharmacy as a profession and as an applied science.

    The first General Assembly was held in April 22 to 23, 1964 at Manila, Philippines, with Professor Jose P. B. Gallardo as the first President and Dr. Patrocinio Valenzuela as the Secretary General.

  2. FAPA OBJECTIVES

    FAPA has its objective the development of Pharmacy as a profession and as an applied science. It pursues this objective notably:

    by establishing close contact with the World Health
    Organization, the International Pharmaceutical
    Federation(FIP) and other allied organizations;

    by collecting documents dealing with the practice of
    pharmacy in every Asian country and by communicating to its
    members records of progress in the scientific and practical
    fields of pharmacy, it cooperation with governmental and
    private agencies;

    by studying questions relating to pharmaceutical education;

    by encouraging the development of pharmaceutical sciences
    and their practical applications;

    by studying the statutory provisions and procuring advice
    and information about pharmaceutical legislation;

    by organizing regular professional and scientific meetings;

    by combating the illegal practice of pharmacy and the sale
    of medicaments by people who are not qualified, by
    encouraging control over the sale of proprietary remedies
    and by opposing trading in secret remedies;

    by publishing materials of interest to pharmacy, and in
    general way;

    by supporting anything which may lead to the attainment of
    the objective.

  3. OBJECTIVES

    Background:

    The fact that pharmacy practice enhancement will be
    realized through the separation of dispensary from medical
    practice.

    Unity of Korean pharmacists for the rehabilitation of
    pharmacy practice.

    Conveying the true perception of pharmacy practice to the
    nation.

    Analysis of other countries' current state of the separation
    of dispensary from medical practice.

    Finding the true role of pharmacist through productive
    separation of dispensary from medical practice.

    Objectives:

    Reestablish the perception of pharmacist through the
    conferences and the exhibition.

    Introduce current state of the separation of dispensary from
    medical practice in Korea to overseas participants and to
    give them a better understanding of it.

    Make the most use of the event to be the first step for the
    prosperous future of the separation of dispensary from
    medical practice in Korea.

    Function as the place to strengthen the unity of all the
    members of the Korean Pharmaceutical Association in terms
    of the separation of dispensary from medical practice.

    Search for the ways to foster the productive separation of
    dispensary from medical practice in Korea in future.
